The jerseys are embroidered and if you are interested in high visibility, have a look at the high vis yellow jersey with royal blue chest panel, collar and cuffs. The electric blue jersey is also very visible and the ink jersey with ruby collar, cuffs and chest panel is a very retro look. The high vis yellow and electric blue jerseys are made witha 270gm merino ideal for cold weather, and the ink/ruby jerseys are in my usual 240gm merino, also great for colder weather. Prices are $185 each.

Have a good winter out on the bike.

Regards,

Rosemary Weir

Aspiring Cyclewear

.

My Mongoose Randonneur Touring Bike

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; It is a refurbished bike and I think will give me many happy hours touring. The first two small trips I would like to do are from Nelson to Tapawera avoiding Spooners Range by turning off to the Golden Downs road and over a saddle and out on the main road near Kohatu. Down the road to Tapawera for the night and maybe explore the country roads round the area. Then next day ride down the Motueka Valley to Woodstock and through to Dovedale and Thorp then through to Wakefield via Pigeon Valley. There will be a bit of gravel but mainly it will be tarmac. I have armadillo Infinity Specialized tyres which look as if they will be a good compromise giving a bit of grip on gravel and fast enough on the tarmac.

Golden Bay is next on the agenda. I went there last year on my mountain bike hoping to go over to the Westhaven Inlet to Paterau a wild West Coast beach with rural scenery and wild ocean beaches. Unfortunately the wind was really bad last year and I only got as far as Pakawau on the Golden Bay side. Still lovely, but I would like to have another go at doing the full trip. Golden Bay is a wonderful place to ride. Beautiful beaches and inland there are bush clad hills and river valleys with old goldmining sites to explore. From Collingwood the trip up the valley to Bainham and beyond is definitely worthwhile, and there is a wonderful cafe, the Naked Possum nearby for lunch. Also a stop at the Bainham store is a must. This is the area where the Heaphy Track starts on the Golden Bay side if you are into tramping.

Happy Biking!

Cheers,
Rosemary Weir
Aspiring Cyclewear

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; It is also available in ruby in both men's and women's sizes. It is made to order so there may be a time delay in receiving the order and completion. There are a few sizes in stock, and the delivery time will be quoted upon receipt of the order. The colour in the photo is dark charcoal, a very smart looking jersey which will look as good on the bike as in the cafe after the ride. If you want to be more visible on the bike ruby is an eyecatching red ( see my New Samples under Special Promotions, on the website). I also have a couple of men's sizes in steel available.

Hi Everyone,

Here are photos of four new jerseys produced for a special order. The jerseys with contrasting chest panel and sleeves have the Aspiring Cyclewear logo embroidered across the front and back chest panels. I had spectacular scenery, great places to stay in the Gypsy Rose, and the company of my dog Copper. We explored beaches, mountain paths and bush tracks.

I will show you some coastal Kaikoura scenery and coming over Arthur's Pass from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Craigieburn looks like a popular area for mountainbiking with tracks and gravel roads up into the mountains near Arthur's Pass. I had two glorious days while there and walked up a track to view the mountains nearby.

I am reducing the price of a few jerseys at the Nelson Market this week. Discontinued colours which I have a limited size range still available. They will be long sleeved mustard jerseys and chocolate jerseys both long and short sleeves. Please contact me for more details if you are interested.

Rosemary Weir
Aspiring Cyclewear

P.S. It is very cold having snowed down low last night and it is cold and grey. Later today if it warms up I will go for a ride, in the meantime it is long walks along the beach with my travelling companion Copper, a red border Collie cross who has entered my life and been with me about six weeks. He is a great travelling companion and loves new adventures.

Yesterday we were at Rarangi Beach not far from Blenheim. I notice both there and here in Kaikoura cycle paths are being constructed. I am sure this is a result of the Government's interest in having a series of cycleways constructed throughout New Zealand in different areas, and hopefully linking them up. Great to provide cyclists with an alternative to the busy highways. Don't know whether it will suit roadies though, I think a lot of the paths will be gravel. Still there are some wonderful sealed backcountry roads in most districts with little traffic. Good to provide a safer enviornment so more people will enjoy being out on their bikes.

I am off to Amberley and then to Culverden where I will be attending a Christmas Country Fete on a high country farm. Aspiring Cyclewear and my handwoven range of clothing will be on display.

Bye for Now.
Rosemary Weir
Aspiring Cyclewear

An Introduction

Hi Folks, I am a keen biker, both on the road and on my mountain bike. I live in Nelson and have spent many happy hours exploring our wonderful countryside. I am also a keen tramper, and got into biking about three years ago to recover from a knee injury and now I am hooked. I produce merino cycle jerseys which I sell online and at the Nelson Market on Saturdays. In a couple of weeks I am off to the Culverden Country Fete with my bike jerseys and my other business, Handwoven wool and mohair clothing. I will be setting off in the Gypsy Rose, my old Bedford Campervan to see the country as well as speak to retailers who I supply with my woven clothing. A great excuse to get on the bike and explore what other regions have to offer. I am keen to get into bike touring in the near future and am exploring options for the ideal touring bike. I want one which will be good on the tarmac, but also will take me over the gravel backcountry roads.

In New Zealand we are on the verge of creating a network of cycle trails which will hopefully link up and provide some great trips for bikers. In the South Island we already have the Central Otago Rail Trail which is very popular with a wide range of ages and experience levels. In Nelson we hope to have cycleways developed over the next few years which will provide coastal cycleways through to Motueka and beyond. Already money has been allocated for a cycleway on the St. James Station near the Lewis Pass, and in Queenstown an extensive trail is being planned which will be great to visit after doing the Otago Rail Trail.

I will keep you posted on any new developments with regard to my Aspiring Cyclewear, and will let you know how my South Island trip goes.

Goodbye for now,
Rosemary Weir
